First Christmas at Hume and it was wonderful!

Well this year for the first time since we have been married or dating we spent Christmas at Hume.  We had many threats of storms and such but the Lord provided and on the days our family was traveling up and down roads were clear.  We were blessed to get a large cabin up here from the Parkinson family that made our time especially great.
The last time we got a photo like this was at Disneyworld and next year we will get to add Baby Burch in the picture.  This was the only day Jen actually went outside for over a week.  Boy does she need to get out more.
I always forget to get a picture of Jay and I and Liz took this amazing picture for us.  Thanks Liz! Can you believe they said this was suppose to be a mild winter.  Look at all that snow in the high country.
Oh and that lake was completely drained 4 days ago.
I would say this year Tanner GOT christmas.  Maybe even a little too much because by the end she was thinking she got presents everyday because that is how many christmas's we had.  This is her trying to shake out her stocking Christmas morning.  She was so excited.
Jett was happy to just sit back and watch it all.  Tanner was thankful for that too because then she got to open Jett's presents.  Next year NOT THE CASE!!
Daddy filled in for Jett on opening his stocking and opening a few gifts.  Jay and I really had fun shopping for the kids and know that it is just going to get better with time.  We feel truly blessed by our kids and all that God has given us.
The table in the back ground was from Nana and Papa and that was the first thing she saw when she got up.  She ran right up to it and said "for me?"  Well technically for you and Jett but for now she gets it to herself.  We tried the Santa thing and she said Santa got her stuff but I don't think she truly understands and we didn't play it up that much.   we did leave out the cookies though but she never even noticed the plate.  I don't know how much we will really play it up  because I don't really like the lying thing and really Jesus is the reason we have all we do.  So we will see how the years play out.
Grammie and Grandpa hit the mark with their gifts this year.   An art esle and Tinkerbell.  Tanner got a plate, cup and bowl set and then Tinkerbell doll with light up wings.  She LOVED it!!  GUess you can't really dictate which characters you kids will like for they have a mind of their own.  I love little mermaid and have tried to get Tanner into Ariel but alas to my dismay she wants nothing to do with it.  She fell in love with Tinkerbell.
This was the year of games for Tanner which is great because we had NONE!!  We got connect 4, candyland, lucky ducky, cootie and a fishing game.  Winter time here we come.  As I write this we are getting another storm with snow.  Did I mention it was suppose to be a mild year for snow?

Tanner is also really into music and singing so she got her first keyboard and microphone. Oh and a recorder too which is loves playing.  Mommy not so much, but I did remember how to play Mary had a little lamb on it.  Not to bad if I do say so myself.

This is a classic picture we had to post.  Grammie and Grandpa got micah this bath towel and Jay got Micah a light sabor and this is instantly what Micah started doing.  Jay was in heaven and I know can't wait for Jett to get bigger.  It is amazing how boys just know what to do with Swords.  but Tanner had fun with it too and I tried to tell Jay that he should have gotten Tanner one too.  She is not "all girl".

Grammie got Tanner her first cooking apron and Tanner loved it.  So did mommy because now maybe Tanner's shirts won't get so ruined.
Yes Jay did get Jett his first star wars item.  A yoda doll, which Jett loved, Micah said "scary".
The Johnson family also did a little sledding thanks to uncle Adam.  Tanner had fun but got tuckered out really quick.

It was a great Christmas if I do say so myself and I look forward to many more with my kiddos and hopefully more at HUME!! Merry Christmas everyone.

Let the Christmas festivities begin.

We had the Johnson family christmas last weekend while Jay's sister Jenny was still in town from Romania.  Grammie and Grandpa are always trying to get a picture with the grandkids.  Someday we will get all of them looking at the camera.
Jenny (or Tusi as the cousins call her which is Aunt in Romania) also tries to get a picture.  Jett is at the stage where flashes are attracting so he is the only one that looks.  Micah is a great smiler there were just too many cameras to focus on.
This year Jenny made Micah and Tanner an ABC book with pictures and she read it to Tanner.  It is a great book.
Tanner is at the age where if someone is in the kitchen she wants to be too and helping so mommy got brave and decided to try frosting sugar cookies with her.  I must say she did a great job and each one was decorated with extra love and she licked the knife between each dip into the frosting but she did get the idea of spreading.
This will be our VERY FIRST WHITE CHRISTMAS, as we are staying at Hume for the first time.  It had rained for 60 hours and then finally turned to snow.  It was a welcomed sight as Hume probably couldn't take much more rain.  The Lake was completely drained and then filled up and flowed over.  Here is daddy and Tanner enjoying the white stuff.
Can you see how much we have.  It went up to Tanner's knees and thankfully she didn't mind walking in it.  We haven't been out much so we need to get her use to walking in snow.
Tanner saw that I had a gingerbread house kit and after we were at our friends house and she saw them making it she knew exactly what it was and really wanted to make it.  After two days of begging I fiinally gave in.  Of course mommy did most of the work and Tanner did the eatting but she did put a few candies on.
Here is the finished product.  Not to bad if I do say so myself and finally Tanner is smiling.  She always says smile doesn't do it.  We are trying to work on it.  Stay turned for more family festivities as Jen's family is coming up today til Christmas eve and then Jay's family comes up after that.  I am sure there will be plenty more picture moments.

Thanksgiving fun

The week of Thanksgiving I decided I needed to take a few more pictures of Jett as he is really starting to smile.  As with any second child, you never quite take enough pictures so this day I decided to capture our little guy.
He is really trying to talk to us and grunts just a little less.
Tanner was feeling left out and asked to have her picture taken too.  SHe actually smiled and didn't give her cheesy smile face.
Tanner loves to push Jett in the swing.  We just have to  be careful she doesn't push him like she likes to be pushed (high and fast).

This year at Thanksgiving  a little pilgrim and indian graced our feast thanks to Grammie.  She made the costumes which were adorable and the kids loved putting them on.  Notice our pilgrim came with a BIBLE too, she is so spiritual.  Tanner also noticed Micah had a necklace and told Grammie she needed one too.  So Grammie found this cross which completed the outfit.
We are so proud of our little pilgrim.
A thanksgiving to be thankful.  The table was beautiful and the food was amazing.  Another year to be thankful of all the blessings God has given.
